About this campsite

Blackberry Wood is a back-to-basics woodland campsite tucked into a hillside at the foot of the South Downs, a couple of miles from the village of Ditchling. There's no electric hook-up and no big touring pitches here — instead the site is broken into small, semi-secluded clearings among mature trees, each with its own fire pit, and campfires are actively encouraged rather than merely tolerated. It became known well beyond Sussex for leading the early wave of UK glamping, with a converted double-decker bus, an old fire engine, hand-carved treehouses and a scattering of shepherd's huts and cabins alongside the standard tent pitches. It keeps a strict no-noise, no-parties policy, so it suits couples, families and small groups after a quiet few days under the trees rather than a festival atmosphere. A basic on-site shop and coffee stand cover essentials, and Ditchling and the Ditchling Beacon walks up onto the Downs are a short drive away.
