About this campsite
Demesne Farm Campsite has been taking in Pennine Way walkers since 1972, when the Bellingham village bobby suggested the farmer put up a few tents for passing hikers. It's still a working farm, with 30 grass pitches split across two level fields right behind the farmhouse, and the old stone barn now doubles as a bunkhouse for groups. Bellingham itself, with its shops, pubs and tea rooms, is a hundred metres away, and the waterfall walk up to Hareshaw Linn starts a five-minute stroll from the gate. It's a genuinely handy base for Kielder Water, Kielder Forest and Hadrian's Wall, all within a short drive, and it keeps its prices properly old-fashioned — no frills, just a good clean field to pitch on.
