About this campsite
Dolgamedd is a quiet, family-run touring and camping park on the banks of the River Wnion, a couple of miles outside Dolgellau in the shadow of Cadair Idris. It has deliberately stayed simple: no pool, no bar, no on-site shop, just well-kept grass pitches by the river and a clean modern amenities block, on the principle that guests should walk or drive the short distance into Dolgellau and support the town's own pubs and shops instead. The river frontage is the main draw, good for a paddle or an evening fire with the sound of the water nearby, and the park makes a natural base for climbing Cadair Idris, riding the trails at Coed y Brenin, or heading over to Barmouth and the coast, which is about ten miles away.
