Fallowfield Dene Caravan and Camping Park
Acomb, Hexham, Northumberland, NE46 4RP, England

About this campsite
Fallowfield Dene is tucked into secluded, mature woodland just outside Acomb, a mile or so short of Hadrian's Wall and on the edge of Northumberland National Park. Individual pitching areas are set among mountain ash and silver birch and given Roman names, a nod to the Wall running past, and there's enough tree cover that red squirrels, foxes and the odd hovering kestrel are regular sightings. It's a well-equipped touring park rather than a wild camp — proper electric hook-ups, modern toilet and shower blocks, a launderette and a small shop and coffee shop — but the woodland setting keeps it feeling more like a forest clearing than a car park with grass. Hexham, with its abbey and market, is two miles away, and Corbridge Roman Town and Housesteads Fort are both a short drive.
