Herding Hill Farm

About this campsite

Herding Hill Farm is a working farm campsite a mile or so from Hadrian's Wall, on the edge of Haltwhistle in the North Pennines AONB. It has grown from a simple touring field into a fairly comprehensive site with gravel hook-up pitches, grass tent pitches, heated wigwam cabins and glamping pods with their own hot tubs, so it suits everyone from Hadrian's Wall Path walkers with a single tent to families touring in a caravan. There's a small petting farm for children, a covered BBQ hut you can hire for a group cook-out, and enough space between pitches that it doesn't feel packed even in summer. Haltwhistle itself, with its shops, pubs and railway station, is a short walk or drive away, and Vindolanda and Housesteads Roman Fort are both close by.
