Horgabost Campsite
Horgabost Campsite, Horgabost, Isle of Harris, HS3 3HR, Scotland

About this campsite
Horgabost Campsite occupies a strip of machair on the west coast of Harris, right behind the dunes of one of the finest beaches in the Outer Hebrides, with Taransay sitting offshore and the hills of North Harris rising behind. It's a genuinely basic site — an open field, a small toilet and shower block, and not much else — but the setting does all the work: guests wake up a two-minute walk from turquoise water and white sand that would not look out of place in the Caribbean, weather allowing. It sits on the Hebridean Way walking and cycling route, and is a short drive from Luskentyre, Seilebost and the tweed weavers and small galleries dotted along this stretch of the A859. Community-run and seasonal, it only opens for the summer months, and tent pitches without a car are booked by phone rather than online, which is part of its low-key, unpolished charm.
