Kilbride Campsite
Kilbride Campsite, 9 West Kilbride, Isle of South Uist, HS8 5TT, Scotland

About this campsite
Kilbride Campsite sits on the south shore of South Uist at Cille Bhrighde, close to the causeway crossing to Eriskay, with the white shell sand and turquoise shallows of the Sound of Barra a short walk away. It's a small, community-feel operation that also runs a hostel, B&B rooms and an on-site café serving locally-sourced food, so campers get a proper cooked breakfast or a pot of tea within a few steps of their tent, which is a real bonus on a wet Hebridean morning. It's set directly on the Hebridean Way, the long-distance walking and cycling route that runs the length of the Outer Hebrides, and makes a good stopover for people cycling or walking between the Uist causeways. Beyond the beach, the main draws are the machair wildflowers in early summer, the RSPB reserve at nearby Bornish, and the ferry links out to Barra and Eriskay.
