Sango Sands Oasis sits on the clifftop right above Sango Bay in Durness, roughly the halfway point of the North Coast 500 and about as far northwest as mainland Scotland goes. It's a ten-acre site with genuinely dramatic sea views: pitches look straight down onto a Blue Flag beach of white sand and turquoise water, with more coves and arches visible along the coast towards Faraid Head. The site has grown a proper campers' kitchen, laundry and modern shower block over the years, and the Sango Sands Oasis bar next door does food and live music in summer, making it as much a social hub for NC500 travellers as a place to pitch a tent. Smoo Cave, one of Britain's largest sea caves, is a five-minute walk away.
