Winshields Bunkbarn and Campsite
Winshields Farm, Once Brewed, Bardon Mill, Hexham, Northumberland, NE47 7AN, England

About this campsite
Winshields sits right beneath Winshields Crag, the highest point on the Hadrian's Wall Path, in the hamlet of Once Brewed near Bardon Mill. It's a proper walkers' and cyclists' campsite rather than a resort — simple grass fields for tents, campervans and small caravans, basic shower and toilet facilities, and a stone bunkbarn if you'd rather not pitch at all. Steel Rigg, Sycamore Gap, Vindolanda and Housesteads are all within easy walking or cycling distance, and the Twice Brewed Inn with its own brewhouse is five minutes down the road for an evening meal. Cars stay off the camping fields themselves, which keeps things quiet and green, and the site is popular with people walking the Wall coast to coast, so it's worth booking ahead in summer.
