About this campsite

Gwern Gof Uchaf is a working hill farm of 750 acres in the Ogwen Valley, sitting directly beneath Tryfan, one of the most recognisable and most-climbed mountains in Britain. Camping here is deliberately no-frills: a big open field with basic toilets and hot showers, no marked pitches, and a philosophy of walk-in and pitch where you like. It has been the traditional base for climbers and scramblers heading up Tryfan's North Ridge or across to the Glyderau for generations, and the farm also runs a bunkhouse in a converted barn for anyone who wants a roof rather than canvas. There's no shop and no frills, but there's also nothing between your tent and one of the best mountain views in Snowdonia, and the A5 through the valley puts Llyn Ogwen, Capel Curig and Betws-y-Coed all within easy reach.
