Porthclais Farm Campsite
Porthclais Farm Campsite, Porthclais, St Davids, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, SA62 6RR, Wales

About this campsite
Porthclais Farm sits just inland from the tiny limestone harbour of Porthclais, a mile or so south of St Davids on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. It's a straightforward, unfussy camping field on a working farm — the kind of place the Independent once named one of the fifty best campsites in Britain, and the Telegraph called a hidden gem, without either of them explaining quite why it works so well. Reasons are hardly needed once you're there: gulls wheeling over the harbour below, a short walk down to swim or launch a kayak, and Britain's smallest city a stroll away with its cathedral, pubs and live music. Pitches are grass, unmarked and non-electric, so it suits tents, campervans and trailer tents better than big outfits, and it fills up fast in summer with walkers doing the coast path and families based nearby for the beaches at Whitesands and Caerfai.
