About this campsite

Acton Field sits on a gently sloping three-hectare hillside above Langton Matravers, in the heart of the Purbeck Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with views stretching over Swanage Bay to the Isle of Wight. It has been a campsite since 1948 and still has that unfussy, back-to-basics feel: you park your car right next to your tent, choose your own spot rather than being allocated one, and there are no open fires — just raised barbecues and fire pits kept off the turf. The Priest's Way and the Jurassic Coast Path both pass close by, so it suits walkers and cyclists heading for Durlston or Swanage, and a mobile grocery van visits during school holidays for essentials. It's a simple, dog-friendly field with hot showers and a genuinely coastal outlook rather than a park full of facilities.
