Camping in Snowdonia: what to know
Eryri (Snowdonia) is the heart of mountain camping in Wales. Sites cluster around Llanberis, Betws-y-Coed and Beddgelert, putting Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the Glyderau and the Carneddau on your doorstep. Lakeside campsites at Llyn Gwynant and Llyn Padarn are particularly popular with paddleboarders and wild swimmers.
The southern half of the park, around Cadair Idris, Barmouth and the Mawddach estuary, is quieter and combines mountains with sandy beaches. Expect classic Welsh farm campsites with a stream to paddle in, a pub within walking distance and stargazing that rivals anywhere in Britain.
