Ashurst is a well-run New Forest campsite right by Ashurst New Forest railway station, a few minutes from Lyndhurst and about twelve minutes' drive from Paultons Park. It's a good all-rounder: grass, hardstanding and XL pitches sit alongside a handful of bell tents, and the facilities run to a launderette, EV charging, a motorhome service point and gas cylinder exchange, which is more than most forest sites offer. Open heathland and forest walks start straight from the gate, and the village itself has pubs, cafés and shops within easy walking distance. One thing to know before you book: dogs aren't permitted here, because the surrounding heath is an important ground-nesting bird site, so it suits campers without pets better than most other forest campsites.
