Camping in the New Forest: what to know
The New Forest is unlike anywhere else in England: a medieval hunting forest where ponies, cattle and donkeys wander freely through villages and, quite often, through campsites. Pitches among the oaks and beeches at Brockenhurst, Ashurst and Burley are the classic New Forest experience, with miles of flat, car-free cycle tracks starting at your tent.
The park’s coast along the Solent adds beaches at Lepe and Milford on Sea, with views to the Isle of Wight. Being under two hours from London, the Forest is busy on summer weekends; midweek and out of season it is peaceful and green.
