About this campsite
Setthorns sits deep in the woods between Sway and Burley, and it is the kind of place where you lose track of where the campsite stops and the New Forest starts. Pitches are tucked in among tall pines and gorse, screened from each other by scrub, so even in August it feels quiet and private. Ponies and donkeys wander through freely, and the old Castleman Trailway railway line runs along the edge for easy walking and cycling straight from your tent. This is a deliberately simple site with no toilet or shower block, so you will need your own chemical toilet, but that is exactly why it stays so peaceful. Brockenhurst and Burley are a short drive away for pubs, tea rooms and supplies.
