It's a proper family-run White Peak site, AA five-pennant and Visit England four-star rated, with 62 grass and hardstanding pitches, five camping barns for anyone who wants a roof without a full holiday cottage, and its own bar and shop for evenings when you can't be bothered to drive anywhere. Walkers get four long-distance paths passing close by, including the Limestone Way, and the gritstone boulders of Robin Hood's Stride draw climbers most weekends. It's a sociable, well-run place rather than a quiet retreat, so it suits families and groups better than anyone chasing total solitude.
