Gill Head Farm Caravan & Camping Park
Gill Head Farm, Troutbeck, Penrith, Cumbria, CA11 0ST

About this campsite
Gill Head is a working hill farm on the quieter, eastern side of the National Park, midway between Keswick and Penrith and close to the A66, with Trout Beck running along the edge of the site and open views across to Blencathra and the Ullswater fells. It's a genuinely family-run operation, with a small shop, a communal cabin with kettles and a fridge-freezer for campers to use, and a children's play area that makes it as popular with families as with passing walkers. Pitches range from simple grass tent pitches to fully serviced hardstanding for tourers, and the farm also has static caravans and self-catering cottages for anyone who'd rather have a roof than canvas. It's a useful, easy-access base for Ullswater, Blencathra and the northern fells, away from the summer crowds of the central valleys.
