Westermill Farm Exmoor Camping
Westermill Farm, Exford, Minehead, Somerset, TA24 7NJ

About this campsite
Camping on a 500-acre working hill farm at the end of its own private valley in the middle of Exmoor, with the young River Exe running along the bottom of the fields. There are no marked pitches, so you pick your spot in one of four mown meadows, park the car beside the tent, and in the fire field you can have a real campfire with logs from the farm. Facilities are deliberately simple: one converted stone building with solar-heated showers, a small shop selling the farm's own lamb and beef, and waymarked walks straight out of the gate onto the moor. Exford village is a couple of miles down the lane, and Dunkery Beacon, Tarr Steps and the Doone Valley are all within easy reach.

Fourth Field Campfire Pitch
Sleeps 6
Pitch in the fourth field, the only one where the fire pits are already set into the ground, so you can have a proper campfire in front of the tent. Nets of logs and marshmallows come from the farm shop. Popular with groups, so it fills up first in the summer.

Riverside Meadow Pitch
Sleeps 6
Pick your own spot in the first two mown meadows beside the River Exe. Nothing is marked out, there are no hook-ups anywhere on the farm, and you park the car right next to the tent. Free hot showers, family shower rooms and natural spring drinking water are in the converted stone building. Barbecues are fine as long as they are raised off the grass.
