Chapel House Farm Campsite
Chapel House Farm, Stonethwaite, Borrowdale, Keswick, Cumbria, CA12 5XG

About this campsite
Chapel House Farm occupies a single sloping field at Stonethwaite, where the Stonethwaite and Langstrath becks meet to form the Derwent on its way down Borrowdale. It's about as traditional as Lakeland camping gets: a working farm, cash paid on arrival, no electric hook-up, and a quiet-by-10.30pm policy that keeps the site peaceful even in August. What it lacks in mod cons it makes up for in setting, with fells rising steeply on every side and some of the best valley walking in the district - Langstrath, Eagle Crag, Glaramara - starting straight from the gate. Dogs are welcome, showers and toilets are kept simple but clean, and the Langstrath Country Inn is a short stroll away for an evening meal.
