Coniston Camping Hoathwaite
Hoathwaite, Torver, Coniston, Cumbria, LA21 8AX

About this campsite
Hoathwaite sits on the western shore of Coniston Water, a short walk from Torver and a favourite launch point for kayaks, paddleboards and wild swimmers heading out onto the lake. Formerly run by the National Trust, it's now a small, family-run site that has kept the same simple, no-frills approach: open grass pitches for tents, campervans and small motorhomes, with no electric hook-up and no caravans, so it stays quiet even in peak season. Coniston Old Man rises directly behind the site, making it a natural base for the classic horseshoe walk, and the village of Coniston with its pubs and the Ruskin Museum is a couple of miles around the lake shore.
